I can’t decide if this Charlotte house is a castle or a hidden cabin
Found this massive place in Charlotte sitting on almost an acre and a half. It looks like an estate from the outside, but the inside has some of the coolest woodwork I’ve seen in a while.
The stone exterior
You pull up this winding driveway and get a look at the front. The stone facade gives off serious old-world vibes with that metal roof.
The entry archway is massive. The double doors are thick wood with stained glass panels that look like they belong in a historic building.
The entryway
Once you get past those doors, the stained glass looks even better from the inside with the light shining through. The curved staircase has some incredibly detailed wood spindles.
Looking back towards the main hall, you notice how wide open everything feels. The hardwood floors run throughout the entire main level.
Right off the foyer is this dining room with a grid ceiling pattern that must have taken forever to install. It keeps the space from feeling too empty.
A dream library
This room is easily one of the best spots in the house. It has built-ins and a black metal spiral staircase that leads to a loft.
There is a fireplace in here and massive windows with shutters. This looks like a great spot to get some actual work done.
If you take that spiral staircase up, you land on this loft hallway lined with even more built-in bookshelves.
The family room
The main living area feels comfortable without trying too hard. You get another stone fireplace surrounded by more oak cabinetry.
It opens up to a row of glass doors leading out to the back balcony. The view of the trees from here is peaceful.
The kitchen setup
If you love natural wood cabinets, this kitchen is going to make you happy. The central island is massive and has thick turned legs.
The copper vent hood above the stove matches the wood tones perfectly. There are also double wall ovens and under-cabinet lighting.
Tucked away is this scullery or butler’s pantry. The wire-mesh glass cabinet doors and copper sink give it a classic pantry feel.
Extra spaces on the main level
There is a second sitting room off the kitchen area. It has built-in shelving with glass inserts and plenty of space for a few chairs.
Even the powder room has some character with its wood vanity and arched mirror.
The laundry room has light wood cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling, plus a door that leads straight outside.

The bedroom is huge and gets plenty of light. You can walk straight out to the porch from here.

As you explore the hallways, you find cool architectural details like these arched gothic windows.
The upstairs landing has a curved balcony railing that looks down onto the entrance foyer.
This massive room upstairs has a high cathedral ceiling with dark wooden beams. It would make an incredible home gym or yoga studio.
Looking at it from the other side, you can see how long the room is, with several matching wooden doors.
The guest bedrooms
The other bedrooms upstairs are spacious and have direct access to their own bathrooms.
The walk-in closet space in the house is impressive, with rows of built-in shelving.
Each guest bathroom is clean and updated. This one has a long white vanity and a tiled tub.
Another guest room also features neutral carpet and doors leading out to its own balcony area.
The bathroom attached to this bedroom has a double vanity with plenty of drawer storage.
There is also a huge bonus room that can easily be used as a playroom or media room.
The lower level setup
The basement level is practically its own apartment. It has light wood floors and doors leading straight to the pool area.
It has its own full kitchen with wood cabinets and a tile backsplash.
The bathroom down here has a shower lined with green tiles.
There is also another massive open room on this level that would be perfect for a home theater.
And there is yet another updated bathroom down here with a glass-enclosed shower.
The backyard situation
Now for the outdoor spaces. The main level has a massive stone balcony with arches that span the back of the house.
There is also a cozy screened porch with stone walls, which is perfect for eating dinner outside without the bugs.
If you follow the balcony around, you get a great view of the dense woods surrounding the property.
Downstairs, the pool area is incredibly private. It has a wide concrete deck with plenty of space for lounge chairs.
Looking down from above, you can see how the pool is tucked right into the mature trees.
There is also a brick patio area off to the side, surrounded by landscaping.
Even the side paths are nicely landscaped with stone retaining walls and brick pathways.
Looking back at the house from the pool, you realize just how massive this stone structure really is.
