Courtyard at night showing life-sized chess set illuminated in glowing neon red and blue light

Vegas magician Lance Burton lists his hilltop castle in Henderson for $10million – and the life-sized chessboard in the courtyard glows neon at night

Lance Burton, the Las Vegas magician, built an actual castle on a hilltop in Henderson, Nevada, and it's up for $10 million. Guardhouse, grotto, turrets, and a chessboard that glows.

Up the hill

It's at 1280 Scooter Street. Scooter Street. For a castle.

There's a guardhouse at the bottom of the drive, and yes, it's also built like a castle.

Castle, but built in 2006

First look at the chessboard. Hold that thought.

Inside

According to one commenter, Burton doesn't even live in Nevada anymore. He's on his family farm in Kentucky, two hours outside Louisville. Quite a swap.

A library with a walkway round the top and a marble bust keeping watch. If I'm honest, I'd never leave this room.

Movie room

Red velvet curtains in front of the screen. Makes sense for a guy who spent his career on a stage.

The grotto

An indoor waterfall. Next to the windows. In the desert.

After dark

The Strip's right there on the horizon, which is a nice touch for a man who made his name down there.

One commenter said nobody would buy it at any price. I think somebody out there wants a neon chessboard badly enough.
