Kendall Jenner opens the doors to her cozy mountain home built from scratch – and her favorite spot is a floor-to-ceiling burgundy checkerboard shower
Kendall Jenner built a house in the mountains and filled it with chintz, checkerboard tile and a cattle trough for a bathtub. It looks nothing like the beige mansions you'd expect from that family, and the comments were thrilled about it.
The living room
She built this one from the ground up with designer Heidi Caillier, and the brief was basically grandma chic.

That sofa's custom, oversized, and covered in vintage chintz. A designer in the comments said it was her favourite thing in the house. Mine too.

Guitar picks in a brass fish. From an antique shop in town, naturally.

Then there's the piano. A friend found it online.

Gibson, signed by Les Paul. Kendall says only 20 were made.

Vintage Hohner harmonicas, same antique shop. Whether anyone plays them is another matter.

The kitchen

That skylight between the rafters is there so the kitchen still gets light when it's snowing.

French blue range on burgundy and white checkerboard. It shouldn't work. It does.

Gingham skirts on the cabinets. Grandma would approve.

She got the idea from a house she toured with her mom, and the firewood stacked underneath says it actually gets used.

An asparagus tureen. I didn't know those existed either.

Her second mom gave her these Campbell's soup mugs, and they sat unused in LA for years before landing here. Viewers were more hung up on the fact that the mug she carries around in the video is empty.

Dining room and the dark hallway
It was designed like a sunroom, with a banquette that wraps all the way round and looks out on aspens.

She says this puzzle has been mocking her and her guests for several trips. Half the comments are convinced it's set dressing, like Dakota Johnson's lemons.

Guess whose tequila is on the bar. Someone suggested a shot of 818 every time she says 'mountains'. Please don't.

A porthole window seat in a dark hallway. I'd move into this corner and not come out.

She picked up the Western paintings by bidding in online art auctions.

A trout. Of course there's a trout.

Powder room based on Green River Project. All wood, pale yellow sink, done.

Her bedroom and that shower
Another fireplace, because why stop now.

Kendall said waking up here feels grown up but also a bit like a childhood bedroom. Floral wallpaper and a patchwork bedspread will do that to you.

Chicken-wire doors on a built-in. Very farmhouse, in a good way.

She calls the burgundy paneling one of her favourite colour choices in the house.

And this is her favourite thing in the whole place. Checkerboard floor to ceiling, matching the kitchen floor. One commenter called it 'not a peaceful shower, that's a diabolical Madhatter shower.' I kind of love it anyway.

Where the guests sleep
A bunk room for adults. Four built-in berths, meant for grown-up friends now and nieces and nephews later.

Every bunk gets its own fabrics and its own patchwork quilt.

The bunk bathroom is going for the 1970s. Beadboard, trough sinks on brass legs.

A brass porthole between the sink and the shower. I have questions about privacy.

Red iron bed and polka-dot wallpaper. Kendall said this room felt daring to her, which is funny after that shower.

Forest green walls, royal blue shower tile. Somehow fine.

The Airstream out back
Somebody gave her a vintage Bambi Airstream for her birthday. She moved it onto the property and turned it into another guest cabin.

It's anchored to the ground now, with electricity, heating and AC.

The bathtub is a galvanized stock tank. The kind cows drink out of.

The puzzle's still not finished, by the way. I'd skip the main house and claim the Airstream.
