Rick Ross opens up his Star Island mansion in Miami with a private casino called The Serpent – and the champagne is locked behind a custom bank vault door
Rick Ross let Architectural Digest into his house at 37 Star Island in Miami, and he narrates it like a stand-up set. It's tasteful right up until you reach the casino.
Coming in
Bentley and a Rolls in the driveway. One commenter said the cars are the only thing that tells you a rapper lives here, and after the full tour I mostly agree.

He added 6,000 square feet to the house that was already on the lot.

There are live fish swimming under the foyer floor. He asked the camera if we'd ever seen koi swimming through marble, and half the comment section is people repeating it back to him.

He calls the wall plaster "Marbalini." It's crushed marble dust. How he says the word got more replays than anything else in the house.

Interiors are by Kai Williamson of Studio 7 Design Group. A friend of hers turned up in the comments to brag, which is fair.

Ross says the pearl chandelier looks like shooting stars at night. I'll allow it.

Downstairs

Stand at the front door and you see straight through to the pool and the bay.

Black marble table with a whole tree growing out of the middle.

The Serpent
Snake wrapped around a sword. Good sign you're about to hit the fun part.

His private club, lounge and casino is called The Serpent. According to Ross, the house always wins.

He plays dice in here. 4-5-6, which he calls Miami Silo.

Key to the City of Miami, presented January 15, 2024. Framed, obviously.

Bar entrance is a custom bank vault door, with a little window so you can see what you're not getting.

A tiny Wheel of Fortune board with his name on it, from his run on the show. Same house as the vault. I love that.

A gym for looking at
Dolphins helmet signed by Dan Marino, sitting on a Kobe book.

Louis Vuitton heavy bag. Top comment: "Nothing says I use my gym more than a LV Heavy Bag."

Asked if he's worked out in here yet, he says of course not, he's the boss. At least he's honest.

Dior makes dumbbells. Who knew.

Sauna ceiling copies the starlight headliner in a Rolls-Royce. He has the actual Rolls parked out front, so this is for when the driveway's too far.

Upstairs bar
South Beach beer tap.

Behind the bar he goes by Lord Vader. No explanation given, none needed.

His take on these couches: you don't even deserve to sit on them, just stand next to them. He also says this is where the big business talks happen.

40,500,000 RIAA certifications on one plaque. It takes up the wall.

Dope boy heaven
Engraved pistol on the nightstand, resting on a Louis Vuitton blanket.

"Dope boy heaven" is his name for the bedroom, not mine.

He likes looking at the water at 2 a.m. From that bed I'd be up at 2 a.m. too.

My favourite thing in the whole place. Push a button and the TV wall turns 360 degrees to face the bed or the lounge.

Headboard art is a commission from Solomon Adufa.

Diamond chains on a marble bust. There's a gold lion in there too.

Louis Vuitton cowboy boots. Didn't have those on my list.

Guest room. Much calmer, which after the vault is kind of a relief.

Outside

He put a fine-art face on the pool floor instead of a logo, on purpose. Classiest call in the house. There's a sunken fire pit lounge built in as well.

Downtown Miami across the bay, yachts and jet skis going by all day.

Outdoor kitchen gets its own TV. Naturally.

I'd take the spinning TV and leave him the Dior dumbbells. He's not using them either.
