This $64 million Dallas estate looks like a French chateau dropped into Texas
I spent way too long looking at this listing today. It’s a massive estate in the middle of Dallas, and the sheer scale of the place is hard to wrap your head around.
The approach
You roll up to these massive iron gates first. It feels less like a driveway and more like a secure entry to a private European park.
Once you get past the gates, you see the main house. It was built in 1938 and has this real historic weight to it.
To give you some scale, here is the view from above. The main house alone is over 27,000 square feet, sitting on over 15 acres of land.
First impressions
Walking in, you’re hit with this long gallery hallway. The checkered marble floor is incredibly sharp, and those tall arched doors let in a ton of light.
Then you find the main staircase. The ironwork on the railing is ridiculously detailed, and that chandelier hanging in the center is massive.
Even the side hallways have character. This one is lined with sepia-toned landscape murals instead of just plain drywall.
The formal rooms
The formal dining room looks like a set from a movie. You could easily fit twenty people at this table under that crystal chandelier.
And if you need to host a literal ball, there’s a ballroom. The parquet wood floors here are beautiful, and the ceiling molding is incredibly intricate.
On the casual side, this sunroom has massive steel-framed windows and actual stone columns. It feels like an indoor patio.
About that kitchen
This kitchen is easily my favorite room in the house. Those black steel window walls look straight out to the yard and bring in so much green.
It has two massive islands. One has a dark stone top for prep, and the other is a lighter marble next to the sink area.
Not one, but two bars
If you want a drink, you have options. This first bar is pure Art Deco, with silver-paneled walls and mirrors that go on forever.
If you want something more low-key, there is a second bar with a mountain lodge vibe. The cowhide barstools and dark wood make it feel like a completely different house.
Right next to it is the library. It’s wrapped in warm wood paneling, with built-in bookshelves and a stone fireplace.
The primary suite is massive
The main bedroom is about 3,000 square feet on its own. It has a fireplace, multiple seating areas, and feels larger than most apartments.
The closet looks more like a high-end boutique. It’s fully paneled in dark wood, complete with its own fireplace and leather armchairs.
The bathroom keeps the classic look going with heavy marble flooring, matching wainscoting, and a freestanding tub.
Down in the wine cellar
Underneath the house, the wine storage is serious. This first room has custom wood racks built into every wall.
But this is the real highlight. It’s a full-on tasting room with brick walls, a textured ceiling, and a massive slab table.
The entertainment wing
Moving over to the pavilion, there’s a massive game room. The vaulted wood ceiling is incredible, and there is plenty of space for a pool table.
Down the hall is a private theater. It has 19 leather recliners set up on tiers so everyone gets a perfect view.
The backyard situation
The pool area is ridiculous. The pool house back there looks like a historic monument, and the water is framed by mature trees.
Here’s another look from above, showing how the pool sits next to the main lawn. The hedges are trimmed to perfection.
The property also has a private creek running through it. This stone arch bridge over the water feels like something out of a public park.
Around the side, the motor court has a four-car garage and an archway leading to the rest of the grounds.
Finally, the pathways lead into these formal gardens with brick paving and neatly shaped hedges. It’s hard to believe this is in the middle of Dallas.
